Agenda Constructiilor: Two decades in the avant-garde of architecture, through innovation and vision.

What design projects are you currently working on?

For our company, 2023 was a year of development, during which we managed to enrich our portfolio with complex mixed-use projects. These projects combine artistic, social, and cultural elements with facilities aimed at supporting entrepreneurial initiatives. They are located both in the capital and in various other cities across the country, totaling an area of approximately 300,000 square meters. They integrate residential, commercial, and hotel spaces, contributing to the creation of complete and functional urban environments. In addition to these, we have residential projects totaling approximately 700,000 square meters currently in development. In the retail segment, our activity remains dynamic, involving both new projects and expansions or refurbishments of existing spaces. Most of these are in the authorization stage, preparing for the start of construction.

How has the office’s activity evolved in 2023 and what are your estimations for 2024 and beyond?

This year marks a significant milestone – two decades of activity in the field of architecture. Reflecting on this period, we are pleased to observe the steady evolution of our office both internally, with a continuously expanding team, and externally, through the diversity and scale of our projects. Additionally, the opening of our new office in Australia represents a significant turning point in the company’s history, with ongoing projects already underway. From a financial perspective, 2023 was a year of growth, with a turnover that exceeded the performance of the previous financial year. However, the success of Razvan Barsan + Partners is not solely measured in turnover figures. We gauge our achievements through the variety and quality of completed projects, the number of qualified professionals, and the quality and quantity of partnerships established. This is the true barometer of success in architecture.

What design trends do you notice in the development of new projects?

In the field of architecture and design, we currently observe several dominant trends. Sustainability is arguably the most significant among these. In the design of office buildings, commercial spaces, and hotels, we are placing increasing emphasis on energy efficiency, the use of durable materials, and minimizing ecological impact. For many developers, compliance with standards such as LEED or BREEAM certifications has become essential. Other current trends focus on urban design, incorporating community interaction, and creating experiential retail spaces. Additionally, there is an innovative approach in the hotel sector. The use of sustainable and recyclable materials is also a priority, contributing to reducing environmental impact. These trends reflect a growing awareness of the importance of sustainability and social responsibility in architectural design.

Have you noticed any changes regarding the demand for high-energy-efficient constructions, given the current energy crisis and the obligation to design NZEB?

In the current context, we are witnessing a growing demand for constructions with superior energy efficiency. Until recently, the idea of nearly zero-energy buildings (NZEB) was considered more of a trend. Now, this concept has become a mandatory standard in construction. In recent projects, we have focused not only on the energy efficiency of homes but also on optimizing energy consumption in public spaces and the integral utilities of complexes. We observe a growing preference for homes with minimal ecological impact, reflecting a heightened awareness of the importance of sustainability in daily life. This awareness is not only coming from clients but also from end-users. We are witnessing significant changes in how society perceives constructions and the environment, and as professionals in the field of architecture, we are pleased to actively contribute to this evolution.

What are your development objectives as a company in the short, medium, and long term?

Our plans are focused on conceiving and executing architectural projects that stand out for their scale, uniqueness and innovation, while adhering to the highest quality standards. Additionally, we are committed to the professional development of our team, using the most advanced design and coordination software applications and focusing on continuously improving the team’s experience and unity. In all current activities, we strive to exceed ourselves and to highlight the innovative spirit and vision of our company – essential qualities that keep us at the forefront of the architectural field.
