H Vasile Lascăr | Façade concept

H Vasile Lascăr 5-7 is a hotel redevelopment project located in central Bucharest, involving the transformation of a former office building constructed around 1940.

Razvan Barsan + Partners developed an early-stage façade concept for the project as part of the initial design exploration for Hagag Development Europe. The proposal was intended to inform the architectural direction of the redevelopment and to test alternative approaches to the building’s urban presence and visual identity.

The façade concept explored contemporary architectural expressions based on proportion, rhythm, and restrained material choices, while responding to the historical context and scale of the surrounding area. The proposal addressed street-level engagement, vertical articulation, and the balance between heritage sensitivity and modern hospitality requirements.

Although a different architectural direction was later pursued for the final development, the façade concept contributed to the early design process by establishing key parameters for urban integration, massing perception, and architectural positioning.

This project reflects Razvan Barsan + Partners’ role in early-stage architectural concept development, providing strategic design input for complex urban redevelopment projects and supporting informed decision-making at the client level.
