Flowing Pastels

The interior design for this old home, located in an area with a beautiful past, plays with contrasts and integrates the historical with the modern, the old with the new. The designer’s challenge for this project is to blend the comforts of modern design with the particularities of the historical architecture. The theme uses subtle design elements that reference the exterior architecture, in particular insertions of natural materials such a wood finishes for the walls, furniture, lighting objects and in the frames of decorative paintings.
The ground floor becomes a welcoming and intimate space through the use of light retro furniture and small decorative elements. The design also follows the original layout of the house – wide doors and large windows- and blends with the original architectural elements that give a sense of symmetry and balance to the rooms.
The upper floor accommodates the master bedroom, the children’s bedrooms and a guest room. For the children’s bedrooms the designers imagined fairy tales and expressed them through the wallpaper and wall decorations and through the furniture – such as a large canopy bed. The baby’s room is flooded with natural light, emphasized by a structure made of colored yarn placed behind the bed that reflect the sun’s rays.
